Heath Ledger was born in Perth, Australia on January 28, 1979. He lived in London with his family until the age of 10 when they moved to Sydney. At age 20 he moved to the United States to pursue his acting career. Heath won the Australian Film Institute Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Brokeback Mountain (2005). Heath's performance as the Joker in The Dark Knight (2008) earned him Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actor and Best Actor.
He had recently completed filming of Superman Returns (2006).
